Reason

The digital divide has been discussed for decades; however, the recent pandemic shed an even bigger light on the need to embed and sustain the use of technology in underprivileged and underserved communities.

Plan of action

  • Fundraising
  • Purchase of devices and equipment (laptops, desktops, printers and smartboards)
  • Securing wi-fi in the designated facilities for the computer labs
  • Have City Council members assist with identifying and maintaining the computer labs in their districts
  • Develop and maintain computer lab infrastructure to ensure maximum participation and value to each community
  • Scheduling of programming (e.g. S.T.E.A.M. courses, Microsoft Office tutorials, Certifications, open use for patrons, etc.)
